cook it … the best banana bread ever

I love, love, love banana bread. Well as long as it is nut free. I hate when there are nuts polluting a good piece of banana bread, pumpkin bread, brownies, cookies, really anything. So now that we have that out of the way let’s talk about this banana bread. It is moist, a bit dense, great for breakfast, with tea, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. Super easy to make, and the perfect use for the bananas that have been on your counter a bit to long. Don’t pretend that you don’t have them, we all do. If I buy five bananas, or seven bananas, there is always at least one, ok let’s be honest, at least two, that do not get eaten. So now instead of saying adieu to those sad over ripe bananas I send them to rest in the freezer until I am ready to bake some bread.

Have you ever frozen bananas? If you have you are well aware of how gross they get. They turn dark brown verging on black, and when they thaw they ooze a brown banana liquid… gross! Hold on, hold on, it’s not all bad. Frozen and thawed bananas actually have way more banana flavor than any fresh bananas that you might use. They are also always really mushy and easy to mix into breads, pies, and puddings. So avert your eyes if you are squeamish and just think about the goal, the best banana bread ever!

the Best Banana Bread Ever

How good does that look! I went overboard this time and tossed in a few chocolate chips, amazing. Are you ready to make some for yourself? I hope so… Here is how you can enjoy the best banana bread ever in about an hour!

it’s my favorite … almanac industries clutch

almanac industries clutches | K Flick StudioI am pretty much in love with the new clutches from Almanac Industries, I mean, how could you not be? Screen printed, hand stitched leather, yes please, and this leather is going to darken and get richer over time like any good leather should. They are the perfect size to carry on their own or toss in a larger bag. These days I keep all of my items, wallet, phone, lip balm, letters I keep meaning to mail, in one small clutch. This way I can toss it into the baby bag in the morning before we head out for the day and all my items stay together. Then when I’m out on errands I just bring the clutch in with me and leave the big baby bag in the car. Or if I sneak away on the weekends I just grab the clutch and go. One of these is definitely going on my holiday wish list

kiddos … blabla

Well, no baby yet. Today I start operation meet this baby, I’ll let you know how that turns out.

In other news I am really excited to share my favorite children’s accessory with you today. I have been a fan of blabla’s since I was introduced to them in 2004 and try to gift one to every little one who comes into my life. Not surprisingly they quickly become the favorite companion of the little one. Sure, it could be because I gave it to them that they choose to love it, but realistically I think it has much more to do with blabla than me. Hard to admit it’s true, but sometimes we do have to face reality.

Tragically nugget, that’s what I call our baby, does not have a blabla in his collection yet so I am tasked with picking out the perfect one just for him. Made from 100% cotton these guys are so soft, squishy, and cuddly they make the perfect companion at any age. I have narrowed down my choices to six but am now a bit stuck. Do you have a favorite blabla? Which one would you choose?

My other favorite part about the knit doll line is the names and stories that accompany each buddy. Take Theo, he is a cat. He also conducts a butterfly orchestra that meets every Wednesday by the opera. Wooly the sheep likes to sleep upside down with his feet on his pillow and dreams in green and yellow. Oh and what does Berlioz the bear like? Well, he is a true romantic. He dances the Boogie Woogie and can’t keep his bow tie steady. With names and personalities like these how can you not fall in love?

hello there blabla's | K Flick StudioI’ll be sure to keep you posted on which blabla I choose and how operation meet this baby turns out.

Have a great day. XO

a little soiree everyday

How was your weekend? I hope it was a good one. Our’s was filled with a trip to the pool, milkshakes for dinner, cleaning the basement, and goodwill. All in all relaxing and productive, a strange combination for sure.

I also took some time to add a new design to K Flick Studio’s Society 6 collection and I am so excited about it. Probably my favorite design thus far it’s like having a little party in your purse, or hand, or pocket, or wherever you keep your phone. It’s a little soiree everyday!
Soiree iPhone case | K Flick StudioThe design is available for the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and iPad. You can also purchase a skin for your computer and greeting cards and wall art, it’s just a little crazy. I prefer to stick to the handheld devices, but hey, do what you want!

I hope you all have a great start to your week! Our little one is due on Friday so I will keep you posted! XO

wear it … plum pretty sugar

Six more weeks until this little baby makes his appearance, or so we are hoping. Last weekend we traveled to St. Louis, where I am originally from, and were treated to another amazing baby shower. It was a bit of an adventure getting there, our original flight was canceled, at 11:45pm on Friday night, due to tornadoes. I should have known we were never going to fly out when I talked to my parents when we got to the airport and they were in the basement and the sirens were going off. So we flew out on Saturday. I went directly to the shower and freshened up there. It all worked out, but in my haste I forgot to take pictures, stinker.

Since we returned home I have been in full swing getting everything ready. Washing baby clothes, blankets, sterilizing bottles, and getting the few items that I forgot about like nail clippers and a thermometer. I have also been picking up last-minute items for myself like night gowns that are okay for my Dad to see me in… The one item that is on my want list, and not on my¬†need list, is a robe from Plum Pretty Sugar.

Plum pretty sugar robeHow beautiful is that? So it might be a bridal line, but really, shouldn’t I feel just as beautiful and radiant as a bride after I have a baby? So I need this right… what do you think?

it’s my favorite … mr. & mrs. mugs

I found these great mugs by Jonathan Adler at the NYIGF last month. We just received them in the store this week and I can’t get enough of them. The mugs have both Mr. & Mrs. on them so there does not need to be any fighting over who gets what mug on a Sunday morning. I think they make such a cute thinking of you gift!
