it’s my favorite … national stationery show

wild ink press & printerette press

The National Stationery Show is wrapping up today in New York City. While I was not able to make the show this year, I did get some sneak peaks from some of my favorite stationers to share with all of you. There are so many amazing studios, I wish that I could share them all, but alas I cannot and have chosen just a handful to share.

Today I am sharing some of my favorites from Wild Ink Press and Printerette Press.

wild ink press

Husband and wife Matt and Rebekah Tennis balance three pre-school aged children, rice farming, and this fabulous press in Northern California. From concept and design to printing this duo does it all. I love the wit and detail that goes into every card.

Catherine Polacek trained as a clothing designer, but in 2009 decided to make a switch and opened Printerette Press. The boutique design and letterpress studio based in Minneapolis, Minnesota recently moved into an amazing new studio. I love the hand done quality that Catherine does so well. It is especially apparent in her wedding work.

it’s my favorite … studio sarah

Some of you might remember my blog post last year about Brown Paper, a boutique card shop that was based out of London. Over the past year the shop underwent some changes and has been re-envisioned as Studio Sarah.  Created by Sarah Silver, half of the original Brown Paper, she has had a lifelong love of fine stationery and the handwritten note. One of the things that draws me to Sarah’s work is her eye that “…has always been drawn to delicate forms and beautiful yet understated objects.” I can’t seem to choose my favorite from her new work. The simplistic elegance of the collection makes any piece a classic.

Along with cards I also compulsively collect notebooks. I would love to add either one of these to my collection.

The South Illustrated, 2013 Calendar

It is October. This means that the new year, and a new 2013 calendar are right around the corner. I am always drawn to artisan calendars that are works of art. I usually end up with one of these beauties and another more functional one. As much as I do love the fancy ones they are not super useful for family organization. Right now I am in love with this Garden & Gun exclusive from Sideshow Press, and hope to add it to one of my walls next year.

The South Illustrated 2013 Calendar

How beautiful is this? Each month of this 2013 calendar is illustrated with a southern icon and quote, I say yes please. If you are not familiar with Sideshow Press be sure to pop on over to their lovely site and take a look. There are more than a few items that I have my eyes on. How do you keep your family organized?

love it … alt summit recaps

Recently there was a one day Alt Summit in New York City and sadly I did not make it up for the event. However, much like after Alt Summit in Salt Lake City there were a bunch of recaps and information passed along through attendees blogs. One of my favorites that I found while reading Alt’s new blog was Sarah Tolzmann’s recap of a talk that Tina Roth Eisenberg gave on her 8 steps for a creative life. I have been a fan of Sarah’s blog Note to Self for a while now and was thrilled to see how much time and care she took putting together her summary. If you are not familiar with her you should be! Skip on over and take a gander. Also for blogging inspiration and business advice check out the new Alt blog. Theres a lot of great resources, interviews, and inspiration waiting there for you to find it.

wear it … love it

Woot woot!!! It is time for my 2012 vest purchase, possibly one of my favorite parts of the year. I love quilted vests and for the past few years J. Crew has been killing it. Last year I got this one, and wore it about every day. This year I plan on making this lovely lady mine. I can’t wait for the days to slip into the low 70′s and the nights to provide a chill in the 50′s. Well, a girl can dream can’t she?

love it … greenmarket purveying

Recently while at work I received a very special package. And let’s face it, any day that you receive a package is a great day. On this day I was introduced to a new candle line from Philadelphia, Greenmarket Purveying Co. Created from a love of the natural, and a desire to create candles that smell like the plant and flowers that inspired them, these candles are phenomenal. My favorite for the summer is Sea Salt. Inspired by warm summer days on the beach it is the perfect clean scent that makes me feel that I am in Maine and not Baltimore.

Also, did you see the packaging? So good right. I’m excited to test out No. 011 Wood, and No. 952 Hearth as fall approaches. Greenmarket Purveying Co. also has a few other lines that look enticing that I hope to take a closer look at in the future. Take a few moments, and check them out, you will not be sorry!
