Food Adventures in New York City

I am so excited to be in New York this week for the International Gift Fair. Not only do I get to see gorgeous products, and meet wonderful people, but I am also lucky enough to eat some fantabulous food. I am hoping to be able to find a seat at Buvette, and Momofuku Noodle Bar, fingers crossed. Tonight we have reservations at ABC Kitchen which means that I also get to take a spin around ABC Carpet & Home. Bon appetite!

Denim on Denim

My freshman year of college I might have earned the nickname Ms. Denim. Most days you could find me in my denim jacket. I would pair it with anything from a dress to my favorite pair of jeans. Yes, that is right, I am completely ok with wearing jeans and a denim jacket. While I have not been rocking this look recently I was reminded, and inspired by the great chambray schoolboy blazer that J. Crew just put out. I think this will be a great addition to my spring wardrobe.

Stay on Track

I am off to New York on Saturday and have about 100 things to do today. Unfortunately all that I can think abut doing is painting the kitchen. Ever since I saw this image in a post on SF Girl By Sea last week I can’t get it out of my head. I know that I have to table the project for today, but hopefully will be able to revisit it soon. How often is to often to re-paint a room?

Winter Windows

The holiday season has officially gone, and we are well on our way into 2012. I just realized I never shared the windows that we installed at Trohv for November, and December. They were a true collaboration of many on the Trohv team. Gary, the manager in Baltimore, came up with the concept. Katie laid out the text and got everything organized to go onto the windows. Finally I came in and painted the words. I think that they were some of our best windows yet!

Alt Summit

Sunday night I returned from a fantastic five days in Salt Lake City for the Alt Summit. The summit was a great learning experience personally and professionally. I was also luck enough to travel with Katie of Petal and Print, and Carmen of Trohv. It was lovely to spend a few days away with the girls being inspired, eating good food, and making new friends. I thought that I would share some of my favorite moments from the summit with all of you!

Grapefruit Cocktail

As promised, a week late, but better than never the cocktail recipe from our day of The OC. I have recently fallen deeply in love with tequila and can’t get enough of it. So any drink that I can concoct that is easy, fresh and yummy I am over the moon about. The cocktail is based off of a Ruby Red Tequila Cocktail from Everyday Food. I have chosen to dial it up a touch. Both versions are good, mine is a bit more to the point.

8oz tequila

juice of one lime

2 cups of grapefruit juice, not cocktail, to much sugar

Mix all ingredients in a pitcher. Pour into rocks glass full of ice. Enjoy!

A Day at the Beach

It is now the middle of January so it can only mean one thing. The annual watching of The OC!!! Admittedly one of my favorite days of the year. We open our house to al those that would like to watch, make snacks, and power watch as many episodes as we can. One might say it is my Super Bowl.

I planned the menu, very important, this morning and think that these will provide some good nourishment for the day. Oh and a bottle of tequila. I will share our cocktail choices on Monday!

What to Wear

In 8 days I head off to Salt Lake City and Alt Summit. After talking about this for two years, I am lucky enough to finally be going and can’t wait. I have done all the fun stuff like signing up for camps, and picking what round table discussions I would like to attend. Now I am left with the daunting task of what to wear.

On Thursday night there is a large soiree Dinner en Blanc. Somehow I missed the en Blanc part and am now in a tizzy to try and figure out something to wear. So I have gone hunting for inspiration, here are a few of my thoughts.
