a little something

At this time of year that we start going to gatherings at people’s homes & need to bring along a little something to say thank you for friendship, tasty treats, and inspired libations. Here are three things that I will be brining to people’s houses this year.

Tatine Candle Set, Ambient Collection

Last year when I was at the New York Gift show, we found this amazing candle line. All hand mixed and poured in Chicago these soy/bee blend candles are stunning.  The Ambient collection is inspired by the dada art movement & are intended to provide a pure, clean, unobtrusive dining experience. In scents like crushed mint, ginger & balsamic it is hard to pick just one.

Lafco Gift Set

The Lafco shea butter soaps have a cult following & are really amazing.  There are 4 different gift assortments & they each give a sampling of five different scents.  Also, these are great for traveling, just small enough to bring along & you don’t have to worry about packaging up at the end of your stay.

Pennsylvania Dutch Eggnog

If I am in a pinch, or just want to bring a little added cheer I stop by the liquor store & pick up this very sophisticated libation… Ok so it might not be from the top of the shelf, but it is a crowd pleaser & friendly on you when there are events every night of the week!

Happy visiting!

ready made magazine

Late this summer I was contacted by a journalist in Chicago and asked to submit some images from my window design & merchandising portfolio for an article that she was writing.  I did not know what publication the article was for until everything was approved, and I was over the moon to learn that it was Ready Made Magazine! In September I traveled to New York for the day to style my shoot, and execute the project that my feature was based around.  For a look at the project that inspired the one I did for the magazine look here.  Be sure to pick up a copy of the December/January issue, and look at page 18/19 for my feature and project!

snuggle up

The holidays are just around the corner and I am busy with lots of great orders.  There is nothing that I love more than making pieces that someone has taken the time to choose for someone else.  I updated the shop with lots of great new items that are sure to make someone on your list happy! Go ahead and look, it’s even ok to go ahead and get yourself a little something.

ate it … summer food

I was just going through some photos that I recently downloaded from my camera and came across this juicy one from our trip to Telluride, Colorado this summer. It was such a fantastic August meal that I thought it deserved a look!

becket hitch

The first semi-annual Becket Hitch went swimmingly this past Saturday.  Katie, my co-founder, and I were thrilled to have so many people came to the show and have such amazing things to say about it.  It was fantastic to see everyone’s hard work come together in the space and truly look like what we had envisioned a short three months before.

We were so energized from the event that we went home, and called each other to start planning the spring show! {Details will follow when we have them!} If you were able to join us we hope that you had a marvelous time, and if you were not, we hope that you will be able to in the future.

There are so many people that I would like to thank that made the show happen this year.  Our amazing host Woodberry Kitchen without whom we would have been lost.  All of our generous sponsors for believing in us before they knew what they were believing in, and all of our makers who made the show such a success.  On a more personal note I have to thank my lovely husband who has not seen me for three months, and has been so supportive and generous with his understanding.  {At the end of the show he exclaimed “Now I can have my wife back”} My gracious mother also flew in for the event and stayed up late tying off loose ends with me.  She also handled the tickets and door the day of the event!
